JOHOR BARU: Johor Corp (JCorp) hopes to raise another RM500,000 from the golf charity event this year under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.
JCorp chief executive officer Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim said it targeted to collect RM1mil or more from the event.
He said fund raised from the event would be used to open more charity clinics under the Klinik Waqaf An-Nur to provide medical treatment for the poor.
“We are planning to open another three more new clinics this year in Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Kuching,†Ali said after attending Kulim (M) Bhd annual general meeting here recently.
Presently, the clinics under the Klinik Waqaf An-Nur - are in Johor Baru, Batu Pahat, Muar, Kluang, Senawang, Sg Buloh, Ijok, Kuching and one hospital in Pasir Gudang.
All the clinics and hospital are managed by medical officers from JCorp’s listed subsidiary KPJ Healthcare Bhd.
As of March this year, the clinics in Johor Baru, Batu Pahat and Seremban and the hospital are equipped with 13, 11, 7 and 14 hemodialysis machines for kidneys patients respectively.
Since the introduction of the Klinik Waqaf An-Nur in Kompleks Kotaraya in Johor Baru in 1998 – all the clinics and the hospital had received 380,496 patients including 20,673 non-Muslim patients.
“Although, the clinics and the hospital are located within the mosque’s vicinity, patients of all races and religions are welcomed for treatment,†said Ali.
Meanwhile, Kulim managing director Ahamad Mohamad said the company would donate RM500, 000 for the event.
This year’s event will be held in five circuits – Tuanku Jaafar Golf & Country Club Seremban (held on May 24), Bukit Banang Golf & Country Club Batu Pahat (June 28), Orchard Golf & Country Resort, Kulai (Aug 23), Sarawak Golf Club Kuching (Oct 25) and Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Shah Alam (Dec 2008).
