81 pints of blood collected at KPJ event

Blood donation drive organised by the KPJ Damai Specialist

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 81 pints of blood was collected during a blood donation drive organised by the KPJ Damai Specialist
Hospital in collaboration with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's blood bank here, on Saturday.

"The objective of the event was to help Queen Elizabeth Hospital's blood bank to replenish their blood supply for the month of Ramadan as the blood bank will be at its lowest on blood supply," read the statement. A total of 129 donors from Rela, Tanjung Aru and Sembulan Neighbourhood Watch as well as walking visitors turned up for the event.

Basic health screening (weight and blood pressure) were done by KPJ Damai nurses while Queen Elizabeth Hospital staff did blood screening and interviews by Queen Elizabeth Hospital doctors Dr. Seetha, Dr. Kari and Dr. Zahabiyah.

Successful blood donors were given goodie bags which included five kilogrammes of rice, plastic containers, rice noodles, packet drinks and buns. Also at hand to distribute the goodie bags was KPJ Damai Specialist Hospital General Manager Wendy Voo.
