The Kumpulan Perubatan Johor (KPJ) Healthcare group will provide affordable medical services to residents in USJ 9 Subang Jaya, because of an absence of a government clinic in the area.

KPJ executive director Yusof Ismail, in charge of the Waqaf An-Nur clinic operations nationwide, said the project was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

"Waqaf An-Nur, USJ 9 in Masjid Al-Falah is one of 18 clinics operated by KPJ nationwide. It is also the second branch operated by KPJ Damansara.

" He said the clinic, in operation since April last year, has served 430 residents in Subang Jaya.

"It is open Tuesdays and Thursdays with doctors, staff nurses and care assistants available from 9am to 4.30pm," he said, adding plans are in shape to extend the services to more than two days.

"Outpatient charges are as low as RM5 to RM25 for services like dressing an injury, injections and more.

Yusof said KPJ and the mosque committee were appealing for more public funds to establish a permanent clinic.

"A permanent clinic is set to be built in the mosque’s car park for RM500,000.

"It is expected to be completed in June and will be equipped with dialysis machines," said Yusof.

He also said those who contribute would be rewarded with a tax exemption if they donated a minimum of RM500.

Al-Falah society exco member Khazali Md Zin said about RM120,000 had been collected from the public and private companies so far.

"All donations can be made through our Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad account 12065010009005 under the name Masjid Al-Falah USJ Dr Rosena Abdullah, 55, who has worked with Waqaf clinic since 2006, said she usually treats six to seven patients a day.

"I chose to work with this clinic to contribute to sociely," said the former government doctor and mother of ten.

Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh presented a RM17,000 cheque from the state government to the clinic yesterday.
