
MALAY College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) has managed to attract 24 school teams from around the region for the second MCKK Premier Sevens Rugby Tournament on Feb 24-26.
The school, which has been passionate about rugby since the sport was introduced by former headmaster NJ Ryan in 1956, also has its team called the MCKK All Blacks, taking after the New Zealand national team.
The MCKK Premier Sevens, while aimed at raising the standard of rugby among schools in the country will also foster better relations among competing schools.
MCKK and the Malay College Old Boys Association (MCOBA) have also announced a partnership with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) as the main sponsor of the event.
The event is also supported by Scomi Berhad, UEM Group Berhad, MTU Services (M) Sdn Berhad, AMP Radio Network, Permanis Sdn Berhad, AirAsia Berhad, Boustead Sissons Paints Sdn Berhad, Ernst & Young, Hopetech Sdn Berhad, Proton Holdings, KPJ Healthcare, Delima Oil Products, Kumpulan Karangkraf, SA Kargo Sdn Berhad and Salbros.
The 24 schools entered for the tournament include teams from Singapore and Thailand, who will all compete for the NJ Ryan Challenge Trophy.
The tournament kicks off at 8.30am on Feb 25 with the roundrobin opening round covering the first day’s schedule. The knockout stages will take place the following day. |
