KUALA LUMPUR: A collaboration in healthcare sector with Malaysia can bring tremendous benefits to the Arab countries, considering the latter is now looking to emulate Malaysia’s healthcare management system.

During a visit to Tawakkal Hospital with Kumpulan Perubatan Johor Bhd (KPJ) here today, the Arab league, headed by Mohammed Al-Rabea, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity, highlighted and discussed the potential areas that they can benefit from Malaysia’s expertise in the healthcare sector.

"We are here to learn about the Malaysian medical and management system in the healthcare sector which can be exported back to the Arab world. "KPJ is Malaysia’s leading private healthcare provider and we believe with its level of experience, it can lend us the expertise in running the healthcare system in our country," he told reporters after the visit to the hospital.

However, he said before any concrete agreement can be concluded, market research needs to be carried out to determine the potential areas that KPJ can tap into the Arab world.

For example, in Yemen alone, the locals spend more than US$1.5 billion in healthcare services from other countries, Mohammed Al-Rabea said. - Bernama
