KPJ Healthcare Bhd is expanding its presence in Ipoh, Perak, with the proposed acquisition of Sri Manjung Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd (SMSC) for RM14.3 million. In an exchange filing yesterday, KPJ said its subsidiary Ipoh Specialist Hospital Sdn Bhd (ISH) has entered into a conditional share sale agreement with Dr Lee Min Chuang and Yeat Soo Sing to buy SMSC. With the completion of the proposed acquisition, SMSC will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of ISH. "The proposed acquisition will enable the KPJ group to expand its network of hospitals to locations where private healthcare is in demand, enlarge its customer base and further establish itself as a key healthcare service provider in Malaysia," it said in the exchange filing.
