THEMED Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd (TAR), a unit of Khazanah Nasional, is satisfied with the good response from Malaysian and foreign tourists to its three recently opened theme parks in Johor and Kuala Lumpur.
Its managing director and chief executive officer Tunku Datuk Ahmad Burhanuddin Tunku Adnan said thousands of visitors have been thronging Legoland Malavsia and Puteri Harbour Familv Theme Park in Nusajaya and Kidzania in Kuala Lumpur.
"The response (to TAR'sthree theme parks) has been great, not only from the Malaysian public but also from foreign visitors, from Singapore and also other countries," he said at the corporate partnership announcement cere mony at Puteri Harbour in Johor Baru yesterday.
The parties which inked strategic partnership with TAR as sponsors for the Puteri Harbour Theme Park were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, RHB Bank Bhd, F&N Coca Cola (M) Bhd, Panasonic, Canon, Mini Melts and KPJ Healthcare Bhd.
According to Ahmad Burhanuddin, since the RM110 million Puteri Harbour opened its gates to the public a month ago, it has received 35,000 visitors, including from Singapore and other countries.
Meanwhile, the Legoland Malaysia theme park, the first Legoland theme park in Asia and only the sixth in the world and which opened on Sept 15,has had more than 200,000 visitors, he said.On weekdays, the RM750 million park inspired by Danish toy bricks received between 7,000 to 8,000 visitors, but the number of visitors to the park shot up to 15,000 on weekends, he said.
He estimated more than 30% of the visitors to Legoland Malaysia and Puteri Harbour were foreign tourists, mostly Singaporeans and Singapore based expatriates.
"Meanwhile Kidzania Kuala Lumpur has been registering about 3,000 visitors daily," he said, referring to TAR's children's roleplay theme park which was opened to the public early this year. Besides the three theme parks which opened this year,TAR will also be opening the Legoland Malaysia Water Theme Park in the fourthquar ter of next year, as well as the Ocean Quest and Ocean Splash water and marine theme parks in Desaru in 2015. TAR is also scheduled to open Kidzania Singapore in 2015.
On yesterday's event, Ahmad Burhanuddin said the sponsorships are worth a total of RM10 million for three to five years, and will further enhance visitors' experience at the theme park.
"As visitors interact with lovable characters from Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and The Lit tle Big Club, partners will have the opportunity to showcase their brands and engage them through the theme park activities," he said. — Bernama
