SIBU: An infant weighing a whooping 5.25 kg was born in Sibu Medical Specialist Centre at 2.04pm on Friday.

A spokesman of the medical centre said Sia Pei Hung and her infant son were in the 'pinkest of health'.

He confirmed that the infant was the biggest and heaviest born in their centre, saying the 'Dragon Boy' was now in their nursery care.

"We are proud to render our nursing, nursery and consultant services, and to Sia, best wishes from us all. The baby will grow up strong and healthy."

Sibu Medical Specialist Centre at Brooke Drive is a member of KPJ Healthcare Berhad.

The world's heaviest baby was a 10.2 kg boy born in Italy in 1955.
