THE KPJ annual dinner last week was aptly themed “Night of Glitters”.

The glittering affair was held at the Dewan Perdana Felda, Jalan Semarak and was jointly hosted by KPJ Healthcare Berhad and their Klang Valley Hospitals.
The event was timely enough as KPJ has continued to shine for the last 26 years, amid the exceedingly competitive market.

The highly entertaining evening was made even more memorable when singers Farhan AF4 and Jay Jay of the Carefree fame took the crowd on a nostalgic trip by belting out hits from their album like Kelmarin, Rindu Bayangan, Belaian Jiwa, Kini Baru Kau Sedar and several English numbers to spice up the evening. The two also sang other favourite oldies.

The highlight of the evening was the Long Service Award ceremony for hundreds of its loyal staff from various levels who have served more than 10, 20 and 30 years for the group.

It was truly a milestone of sorts for KPJ that evening as the celebration was done not only to mark the group’s success but also to commemorate the anniversary of two of KPJ’s hospitals in the Klang Valley - Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital that opened in 1995 and Damansara Specialist Hospital, which started operations in 1997.

Earlier on in her speech, KPJ’s managing director Datin Paduka Siti Sa'diah Sheikh Bakir said that KPJ Healthcare had served more than 1.6 million outpatients and almost 180,000 inpatients last year, an increase of 20% compared to 2006.

Siti Sa’diah also attributed KPJ’s success to its parent company, Johor Corporation for not only being a major shareholder of KPJ but also its biggest motivator.
