Private hospital operator KPJ Healthcare Bhd (KPJ) has launched a RM25 million mobile information system which allows for data to be shared by all entities as well as doctors and patients under its group of hospitals. KPJ managing director and president, Amiruddin Abdul Satar, said any changes made at any hospital would be immediately known and the information will be accessible by other hospitals. Amiruddin said the system, which took five years to develop, will enhance information sharing. "All it takes is to register and this will enable both doctors and patients to have access to the information at all times," he said. "This technology will also enable all the 23 entities under the KPJ network to advance in the health sector. This will also reduce the usage of paper." Amiruddin said that currentiy, the hospital has already achieved a reduction of 70 to 80 per cent in the usage of paper, and the number will be further reduced with the implementation of the new technology. He further said the system would be ideal for not only the healthcare industry, but also the tourism and hospitality industries. "The information can be accessed via smartphone, tablet and iPad for information concerning prescription, medical report and more details of medical condipatients to have access to the information at all times," he said. "This technology will also enable all the 23 entities under the KPJ network to advance in the health sector. This will also reduce the usage of paper." Guest of honour at the launch held at the Puteri Specialist Hospital, here, was Datuk Kamaruzaman Abu Kassim, the JCorp president and KPJ chairman. The system has been used by healthcare industries in countries like the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan and France. |
