KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital is organising a charity run on March 15 to mark World Kidney Day. The 7km run will be flagged off at 8.30am from the hospital in Bandar Perda near Bukit Mertajam, and end at the same place. Hospital chief executive officer Abd Aziz Abd Rahman said the event was aimed at creating awareness of kidney health. He expected 100 people for the event, adding that 60 had signed up so far. Closing date is Monday. “The entry fee is RM50 per person and RM100 per family of three persons,†Abd Aziz told a press conference at the hospital. He said the top three winners would take home cash prizes of RM250, RM170 and RM80 respectively besides a medal and certificate each. Abd Aziz said a blood donation drive and an exhibition would be held at the hospital in conjunction with the run, adding that health screenings would be provided at discounts of up to 20%. Sunquick Malaysia assistant event manager Arthur Kolandasoo said the company would sponsor free flow of Sunquick fruit drinks for the run.
