KPJ Healthcare University College (KPJUC) is in Kota Seriemas Nilai, Negri Sembilan, and is a member of KPJ Healthcare Bhd, a healthcare provider. Established since 1991, it was previously known as Puteri Nursing College (PNC). It was the first private nursing college in Malaysia to offer a Diploma in Nursing programme and the first private higher institution to obtain a Diploma in Nursing accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency in 1991. In 2008, PNC was renamed KPJ International College of Nursing and Health Sciences. In 2011, the institution achieved university college status and in 2012, it was rebranded as KPJ Healthcare University College. KPJUC has produced more than 5,000 nurses and healthcare professionals with have graduated with master, bachelor and diploma qualifications. KPJUC has collaborated with Liverpool John Moores University (1997) to offer certificate and diploma in Peri-operative and Operations Department Practice, and also worked with University of Hertfordshire, the United Kingdom (2009), to offer a BSc (Hons) International Nursing. Today, KPJUC has of more than 30 programmes, mostly homegrown, in pursuing its dream to achieve a fullfledged university status in 2016. The programmes range from PhD to diplomas and professional certificates. All programmes obtained accreditation and approvals from the Education Ministry and MQA, as well as fulfilling the standards and criteria set by the boards for medical, pharmacy and nursing programmes. KPJUC graduates are highly regarded for their competence through the teaching and learning experience they received at its university and hospitals. Backed by more than 25 KPJ Group of specialist hospitals, students are exposed to hand-on and real clinical practice from specialists and healthcare professionals. In 2012, KPJUC was granted approval to run its first medical specialist programme, the Master of Otorhinolaryngology (head and neck surgery). Last year, KPJUC was given another approval to offer a Master in Paediatrics and, just recently, to run a Master of Radiology. KPJUC is the only private higher education institution in Malaysia to be given the privilege to run advanced medical programmes. The full support of KPJ consultants and healthcare professionals sets KPJUC and KPJ Colleges in Johor Bahru and Penang apart from its competitors. KPJUC vicepresident Professor Dr Durrishah Idrus said: "The institution guarantees the programmes equip graduates with skills and competence needed at the workplace, and the teaching and learning experience keeps abreast of the latest developments in the industry. "KPJUC is building the next generation of highly employable and capable global citizens to contribute to shaping a sustainable future for all. The campus has a nursing skills laboratory, IT laboratory, diagnostic and imaging laboratory, nursing specialisation skills laboratory and pharmacy laboratory. It has tutorial and classrooms, auditoriums and resources centre with resources. Students are provided with accommodation on campus. KPJUC was awarded a five star rating by MyQuest (Malaysian Quality Evaluation Systems for Privates Colleges) and is preparing to be assessed under MyRA. The transformation that KPJUC has made for the past three years shows that it has provided a wholesome academic experience and ambience for graduates. Its graduates are working with KPJ hospitals, as well as in private institutions and with the government. Many are working abroad, especially in the Middle East, as its degrees and certificates are recognised all over the world.
