KPJ posts RM147.2m earnings |

JOHOR BARU: KPJ Healthcare Bhd posted a net profit of RM147.2 million last year, up by 33 per cent, from the RM110.4 million net profit in 2013. Group revenue rose 13 per cent to RM2.64 billion from RM2.33 billion previously. Chairman Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim attributed the performance to KPJ meeting its target of acquiring two hospitals every year, which boosted its ability to provide more beds for patients. "Last year, the group posted its highest net profit since its inception 33 years ago. It also recorded an improved net profit margin of 5.6 per cent over the previous year," he said after KPJ's annual general meeting, here, yesterday. KPJ declared and paid a total dividend of 7.5 sen per share for the year, amounting to RM76.7 million from RM39.2 million in 2013, at six sen per share. Kamaruzzaman said the company had met its target last year with two new hospitals each in Selangor and Johor. He said the 159 bed KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital, opened in March last year, catered to the needs of the people in Rawang and north Selangor. The KPJ Bandar Maharani Specialist Hospital, Muar, Johor was opened in June last year.- New Straits Times |
