Sibu Specialist Medical Centre To Set Up Haemodialysis

SIBU, July 20 (Bernama) -- The KPJ Sibu Specialist Medical Centre is looking into
the setting up of a haemodialysis specialist centre at its premises.

Its medical director, Dr Wong Chya Wei noted there was a need to set it up by yearend
or early next year as part of the medical centre's aim to better serve the people in
this region.

He was speaking to reporters after a soft opening ceremony of a new paediatrics
clinic at the medical centre here today.

In his speech at the ceremony, Dr Wong said the medical centre aimed to employ
more experienced specialists in the various medical fields in the future to cater to the
needs of the people in Sarawak's central region.
Currently, the medical centre has 12 resident consultants and 10 visiting consultants.

On the new paediatrics clinic, Dr Wong said it would be manned by Dr Lai Boon Foo,
who had previously worked at the Sibu Hospital.

At the ceremony, the medical centre also welcomed its new resident consultant
anaesthesiologist, Dr Yek Kiung Wei.
