KPJ Healthcare Bhd has emerged the first healthcare service provider in Malaysia to adopt Watson for Oncology, a cognitive computing platform that provides insights for doctors to deliver evidence based cancer treatment options. The facility will be made available at its five specialist hospitals namely KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital; KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital;KPJ Johor Specialist Hospital; KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital, and KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital (KPJ Sabah). "We believe that introducing Watson for Oncology will increase KPJ's capability to provide cancer patients with treatment options that are based on facts and medical evidence," says KPJ Healthcare president and managing director Dato'Amiruddin Abdul Satar. Watson for Oncology was developed by IBM in collaboration with the Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) Cancer Center. It can summarise key medical attributes of a patient, thus providing information that enables oncologists to deliver treatment options based on training from MSK oncologists.- Business Today |
