OVER a period of several months leading up to Dec 19, KPJ Pusat Pakar Mata Centre for Sight (KPJ CFS), embarked on a community programme which has benefitted 33 recipients.
The beneficiaries are 24 elderly patients who underwent cataract surgery at no charge, and nine children from Rainbow Love School who received free prescriptive glasses.The Rainbow Love School is a learning centre for refugees and orphaned children.
Funds for the surgeries were shared between KPJ CFS and the Lions Club Kuala Lumpur Bukit Kiara. KPJ CFS provided a sponsorship of RM36,000 for the surgeries, while the Lions Club's contribution of RM26,400 was raised through a grant provided by the CIMB Foundation.
The results of the joint community programme was highlighted during KPJ CFS'Eyesight Day 2018, held atTawakkal Health Centre (THC) on Dec 19.
The event was graced by Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye and the President and Managing Director of KPJ Healthcare Datuk Amirrudin Abdul Satar.
KPJ CFS offers other eye care therapies besides cataract, like the Advanced Dry Eye Service known as E-Eye treatment.- The Sun
